Service and Installation Manager

Simon

Concrete Technology – Service and Installation Manager

“Offered good career progression and training”

Simon initially joined the Liebherr earthmoving team as a workshop engineer. He quickly progressed to workshop supervisor before being promoted to workshop manager. Today, Simon has settled into his latest role as Liebherr’s service & installation manager for the concrete division.

“I have really enjoyed the years I’ve worked at Liebherr as it has offered good training and career progression. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with different divisions within Liebherr and it has given me in-depth knowledge of various industries and customers. Working in service means no day is the same as I experience many different scenarios in the role of supporting our customers.”

Earthmoving – Product Support Manager (South)

Sarah

Earthmoving – Product Support Manager (South)

“I’ve always had great managers and team around me”

Sarah joined the earthmoving after-sales department as an administrator in 2011. She then progressed to parts & service administrator, still completing administrative work but also selling spare parts to customers. An expansion of the division and changes within her role resulted in Sarah’s new position as operations coordinator (South), managing engineer’s resources for the southern depots, parts returns and supporting the regional after-sales manager. Another promotion followed to her current role as product support manager (South), a customer facing role looking after any after-sales issues our customers may have.

“Over the years, my career path has progressed within Liebherr and I have not had a reason to want to leave the business. I’ve found Liebherr to be an excellent company to work for over the years, I’ve always had great managers and team around me.”

Rebecca

Financial Reporting Manager

“There is always something to keep me engaged and challenged”

Whilst studying accounting, Rebecca landed a four-week work placement with Liebherr Great Britain and nearly 13 years later she is still a part of the team. Rebecca has worked in all areas of the finance department, from accounts payable to financial reporting. Today, Rebecca is our financial reporting manager, responsible for financial reporting, financial administration and our finance apprenticeship program.

“If I had to think of one main reason why I’ve enjoyed my time here, it would be that things are continuously evolving; both within the department and for myself, so there is always something to keep me engaged and challenged. Liebherr Great Britain has supported me not only in my professional studies but also with career progression.”

Max

Offshore and Ship Cranes – Technical Advisor

“My colleagues have created a friendly-working environment”

Max started as a service engineer at Liebherr Hong Kong in 2006. After years of working in fields, he was promoted to technical advisor, where he gained knowledge on the various products in the maritime sector. ‘Get to Know UK’ launched an immigration route for Hong Kongers and in 2021 Max and his family decided to move to the UK, where he started at Liebherr Great Britain (LGB) as an offshore and ship crane technical advisor.

“LGB continues to support my family’s settlement in the UK, and my colleagues have created a friendly working environment. I’ve had valuable advice on many areas such as culture, communication and language. For the weekends and holidays, my colleagues have recommended a few good places for sightseeing and dining. LGB provides a work-life balance system, flexi time and an attractive pension scheme.”

Monae

“Each day is a new day to be inspired”

After looking for a career change, Monae started her Liebherr journey as an e-commerce administrator in our appliance division. Within a year, Monae was promoted to e-commerce specialist and her role has continued to expand since.

“From the moment I was interviewed at Liebherr, I knew this was where I wanted to be. The warmth and friendliness I experienced, with every person taking the time to greet me, made me feel welcome. Since joining, I’ve achieved far more than I could have imagined, supported by an amazing team and a manager who truly invests in my growth. The opportunities for career development here are exceptional, and I’m excited to inspire others to join and experience the same incredible journey. At Liebherr every day is a new day to be inspired.”

Our future workforce

Meet some of the apprentices who are forming a crucial part of our future growth programme, allowing us to achieve our company goals and maintain our commitment to customer service excellence.

Laura

Earthmoving – Apprentice Engineer

“Inspiring more girls into the heavy plant sector”

“I chose an apprenticeship with Liebherr because as an employer they teach you great lifetime skills to become an excellent engineer and you are surrounded by a supportive team. During my apprenticeship I have been involved in a variety of projects, the one that has been a personal highlight for me was a rebuild on an R 964 engine, hearing it start for the first time was an incredible feeling. After my apprenticeship, I hope to still be doing plant fitting or engineering, as well as inspiring more girls into the heavy plant sector.”

Tom

Former Business Apprentice, now Tower Cranes’ Sales & Service Co-ordinator

“Liebherr’s commitment to apprenticeships is outstanding”

“In 2012 I started as a business apprentice, gaining experience in various departments including sales, service, training and accounts, as well as the different product divisions. The knowledge I learnt coupled with qualifications in levels 3 and 4 Business Administration led me to land the role of administrator for the tower crane division upon completion of my apprenticeship. Within the tower crane division, I was encouraged to further develop my skills with technical and professional training in the UK and Germany. This training, alongside on-the-job experience has taken me to my current position as sales and service co-ordinator. Liebherr’s commitment to apprenticeships is outstanding. A short walk through the offices or workshops shows how many started like me and how their careers have excelled thanks to the training and experience they received.”

Olivia

HR Apprentice

“Allowed me to improve my knowledge, skills and confidence within months”

“I opted for an HR Apprenticeship with Liebherr due to their great reputation of being a well-established, family-run organisation with many opportunities. Although I had no prior experience in an office-based environment, I found the training plan and support from my manager and team allowed me to improve my knowledge, skills and confidence within months.”

Throughout my years as an apprentice, I’ve been continuously encouraged to be involved in daily tasks and projects. I particularly enjoy taking the lead on recruiting new apprentices and carrying out the onboarding process, induction and checking in with them once they have started by chairing monthly catch-up meetings.”

Ciaran

Maritime Construction Cranes – Apprentice Engineer

“I wish to give back some of what I learnt as an apprentice to future apprentices”

“Whilst in secondary school in Ireland I wanted to pursue a plant-related apprenticeship and not follow traditional college or university routes. Throughout my final years of school, I worked with a local crane hire company who guided me along the way to applying for a Liebherr apprenticeship. After successfully landing the role, I made the move to England in September 2022.”

“During my apprenticeship, I have worked on two significant projects. The first required me to return home to work for Liebherr Ireland, where we overhauled an LHM 250 mobile harbour crane. The second was another complete overhaul, but of an 800-tonne mobile crane.”

“In the future, I hope to work as a key member of Liebherr Ireland with the responsibility of going out to breakdowns on my own. Additionally, I wish to give back some of what I learnt as an apprentice to future apprentices.”

George

Business Apprentice

“The apprenticeship has given me a plethora of opportunities”

“When I discovered the apprenticeship with Liebherr I was impressed and excited at the prospect of working for such a prestigious company. The rotational aspect of the scheme also appealed to me as I was unsure of what I wanted career-wise.

The apprenticeship has given me a plethora of opportunities across multiple divisions and work environments, and during my time I have worked on such projects as: helping to build websites, write newsletters, analysing competitor pricing and locating our crane fleets. Each project has brought a new challenge and an opportunity to learn. I also attended Hillhead exhibition with the earthmoving division to help run the model shop, as well as the annual Grand Designs convention at London’s ExCeL. In addition, I travelled with sales managers to visit customers. I thoroughly enjoyed all of these and they provided me with great experiences for the future.”
